She can't really pull of the Jolie elegance so she does her beachy casual thing. Her hairline is a bit wacky, you're right, poor thing looks a little haggard I suppose, you have a point. But I thought she did look *her* best!! x I don't like the lilac on Natalie Portman, I'd rather a deep brown smoked out eye- it was too 'twee', you know?Gailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00640390178468446621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7750155244181302377.post-80531808579034961322009-03-21T13:03:00.000-07:002009-03-21T13:03:00.000-07:00Jennifer Aniston looked a hot mess. What are you ...Jennifer Aniston looked a hot mess. What are you smoking? She should refrain from hairdo's that call to mind Chrissie from Three's Company, not to mention which show off her hairline surgery scar. To top it off, she's not 'glowing,' she's burnt orange, and had circles of blush heavier than Raggedy Anne's. The lame should have stayed home. Portman was beautiful and the lilac was subtle, Angelina was stunning - just natural and elegant beauty, ditto Ann Hathaway. Tilda rocks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7750155244181302377.post-43357758606143818712009-03-03T16:25:00.000-08:002009-03-03T16:25:00.000-08:00I think you're right, now that I think about it, t...I think you're right, now that I think about it, they didn't look their airbrushed selves! And yes, the colours were all very restrained, in keeping with the economic times I agree.

Thank you for the compliment on my post by the way, it took ages to assemble the pics so I really appreciate that!

I bought a Korres item today (tinted lip balm) and thought of you! (It's amazing) xxGailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00640390178468446621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7750155244181302377.post-16710127150663703012009-02-28T12:53:00.000-08:002009-02-28T12:53:00.000-08:00Wonderful post! I saw parts of the red carpet and about 30 minutes of the show...too tired to wait it out...but I thought Kate Winslet looked great (didn't really love the dress). The makeup was so subtle and beautiful. Really my cup of tea...the part of the red carpet I saw consisted of the lighter gowns, the creams, grays, platinums...I see now there was some color but my initial thought was that maybe the recession had something to do with the lighter palette? But, it still had a definite star quality to it...Anne Hathaway's dress for instance...beautiful beading and the gorgeous paillettes becoming larger near the bottom of the dress. I would have loved to seen this up close in a variety of lighting:)
I loved Tilda Swinton's look...she's fabulous! Could have used some mascara as someone pointed out but overall just very quirky & chic in my opinion.

The pictures of Reese don't seem to do her justice...she's not as "glowy" and Jennifer Anniston looks like she is spending a lot of time in the sun...both look beautiful but for some reason, to me, didn't look their best or maybe I've been looking at too many photoshopped images!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7750155244181302377.post-13252533388896426702009-02-25T05:56:00.000-08:002009-02-25T05:56:00.000-08:00Ah you little detective you!! I'll even begrudgingly concede that Natalie Portman is gorgeous, no matter what she does. - Hell, if she can look pretty with a shaven head, I harldy think lilac makeup could damage her haha xxGailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00640390178468446621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7750155244181302377.post-24538737620845282642009-02-25T03:50:00.000-08:002009-02-25T03:50:00.000-08:00I know that matchy matchy is a bit of a makeup fau...I know that matchy matchy is a bit of a makeup faux pas, but I still think Natalie Portman looked gorgeous - that girl just can't put a foot wrong. Other thoughts...it struck me that slightly odd dress Reese Witherspoon was wearing had room to hide a little bump..Meryl Streep was a lesson in how to look classy and not do 'mutton dressed as lamb', Nicole Kidman looked brittle as ever, and I will always love Tilda Swinton's uniqueness.
Phew!Ondinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16567842272999527298noreply@blogger.com
