Hello Kitty video... thoughts?

I preferred the one for Cult of Cherry... this one is a bit too 'abstract' (read: pretentious, boring and shallow). It doesn't make me want the makeup more... and I still find those men in gimp masks very sinister, in fact kind of disturbing that almost gang rape like scene, hmm... But on the plus side, I do love the blonde girl's dress, ooh! And the cat turning into the toy by the end. Although, it was nicer as a cat. I still don't get what it was about Hello Kitty that made MAC think bondage, S&M and black cat?? Seems to turn that sweet minx we know and love, into her nemesis... is that what they're aiming for!?

*Anyway knowing me I'll decide it is worth getting; apparently in person it's all fabulous. But for now, it's NOT grabbing me.

-----------> Thoughts???

  1. Well, I think those "male" kitties are just creepy. The whole MAC promotion has managed to take something I love and make me not like it, at least not their version of it.

    But--confession time-- I did order one of the blushes (the brighter pink one). I do think I'll enjoy having one blush with the cute kitty face on it, but I didn't really see any other must-have colors in the collection. Of course, I haven't seen them in person, either. (It's probably a good thing I don't live near a MAC counter.)

  3. like I said before on another blog...it's got a lot of trite symbolism - I mean the pink tunnel with the music starting with lyrics like "come in". Maybe a subtext of lesbianism. Who knows? It's overboard and grasps for straws. I did like the contrast of colors in the first part but the "fetish" part was like a bad 80's video.

    However, if I do get anything, it would be the lip tint in popster. The packaging is simple. Happy weekend!

  4. You are SO right, it has a definite bad 80s music video vibe!!

    I'm also considering the lip tints...I can't work out of they are in a tin or a paint pot jar? But I understand they are bigger than the lip conditioner so seems like a good deal to me... None of the eye quads look my colours, and the lipsticks are uninspiring too. But, I have yet to see it in person. Not out til March here!!

  5. I think the lip tints/lip conditioners are in a flatter round plastic jar with the black plastic screw on lid, not glass like the pp. I just checked the website, it's 15ml/.5oz, same size as the perms. I need to check out my local counter too before picking it up.

  6. Oh thanks so much for that info... I'm going to see if I can find some reviews. Let me know what you think of them too, I might ask someone on MUA to pick one up for me if they are great! (I'm intrigued by new packaging!?)x

  7. Hello Gail. I found your blog on youtube and I'm loving your posts so far. I bought the Jemma Kidd (187 dupe) brush you were talking about from Boots... amazing or what!? And it was only like a tenner... think I need to buy another one. I'm going to do a review on it tonight. Thanks for that, you've saved me a lot of money, the 187 was toooooo expensive!

  8. Hello! Thank you! Yes that Jemma Kidd brush deserves the credit doesn't it? The director of her brand used to be a MAC director, so perhaps that goes some way to explaining why it gets it right. I love it, and I'll look out for your review! Enjoy! xx

  12. Oh you are brave shutting down your facebook! It's something I consider almost every day but haven't had the courage!

    Think we should suggest to MAC they collaborate with Teletubbies; How funny - NooNoo gloss...ewwwww!

    The sad thing is, I wouldn't get the shock of my life if MAC did bring out a Teletubbies collab, indeed, don't you just KNOW it'd be a sellout!!

    re: Facebook, I feel much better now I'm off it, I just didn't enjoy it at all. Having said that, I have lost the power to 'untag' myself on pics, god knows how many awful ones are there from weddings and such. Though in a way on that front, ignorance is bliss so not a problem. Do it!! Down with facebook, haha! X
